CeCe Lacey
Exceptional Foundation - Outreach Director
After two years as an AmeriCorps member with Impact Alabama CeCe left Birmingham to pursue a master’s in Education Policy and Management at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. To complement her graduate coursework, CeCe worked with Empower Schools, a Boston based non-profit, where she facilitated district reform efforts in the Springfield Empowerment Zone. Upon graduation in May of 2016, she moved home to Birmingham to further pursue a path in education reform and joined The Birmingham Education Foundation team as a Program Coordinator, implementing Ed programs across Birmingham City Schools. She spent her third and final year at BEF building out Ed’s alumni program, Graduate Local.
Since leaving Ed full time, CeCe has loved continuing to support the foundation’s work as a member of the Jr. Board. In 2019 CeCe co-authored Magic City Acceptance Academy’s first charter application with Founder, Dr. Michael Wilson. In January of 2020 she began her role as Outreach Director at The Exceptional Foundation. CeCe is a member of the Rotaract Club of Birmingham, a College Choice Foundation mentor, and serves on the Altamont Alumni Association board as well the Foundation Board at Alabama School of Fine Arts.
