Miriam Moore

Hoover High School - Assistant Principal

Miriam Moore is a banker turned educator who is passionate about dismantling institutional bias and equipping students for their own, personal levels of success. Miriam is a native of Mobile, AL.  As a product of the city’s rich cultural history and her family’s heritage, she embraced her family lineage of educators in Birmingham City Schools as a math teacher in 2008.  As a classroom teacher, Miriam joined the school’s leadership team and led school-wide professional development on classroom management, standards-based grading, and was an integral part of establishing the protocol for the school’s various professional learning communities.  Shortly thereafter, Miriam’s passion for education and leadership earned her seat in The University of Alabama’s Educational Leadership Masters Program.  Weeks after graduation, Miriam was promoted to assistant principal after only six years in the profession. She went on to receive her Ed.S in Instructional Leadership 2016, and earned a coveted seat in the school’s doctoral program in 2017.  Miriam currently serves as the 11thgrade principal at Hoover High School in Hoover, AL where she not only is responsible for the 700-member class of 2022, she also accountable for the school’s five academy programs including all career and technical programming.  Miriam also serves on the district’s multidisciplinary team focused on providing wrap-around services to students proving to have unmet needs in the areas of social/emotional health, behavior modification, and/or academic performance.

Miriam has two beautiful children; her nephew, Daniel, is 23 and her daughter, Kelsey is 12. When Miriam isn’t working or making never-ending edits to her dissertation, you’ll find her singing around the house, napping, or snuggling with her daughter.
