Brooke Coleman grew up on Highland Avenue in Birmingham and returned to the neighborhood with her family in 2009. She graduated from Smith College and received an MA in History from the University of Chicago and an MBA with a focus in nonprofit management from Yale University School of Management. Brooke has endeavored to use that education to serve a wide variety of nonprofits in a volunteer leadership capacity, building broad experience in governance, fundraising and strategic planning with a variety of organizations in Connecticut and here in Birmingham, including Creative Montessori School, the Alabama Symphony, and the Women’s Fund. She is a member of the 2015 class of Leadership Birmingham and currently serves on the boards of the Alabama Association of Charitable Gift Planners and Holy Family Cristo Rey School.
In 2015 Brooke joined the Giving Strategies team of the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham. She is currently the Director of Gift Planning and works to provide professional advisors with effective tools for working with charitable clients and for strengthening their crucial role in philanthropy. She also works with charitable families and businesses to help them leverage the power of collective philanthropy to achieve their charitable goals and leave a legacy of impact.
