Alison Grizzle

Dr. Alison GrizzleDr. Alison Grizzle recently completed her term as the 2014 Alabama Teacher of the Year. She recently began a new position with the Alabama State Department of Education as an Education Specialist in the Department of Teaching and Learning in the Educator Effectiveness Section. Alison taught mathematics for 15 years in Birmingham City Schools, serving students from the the Ensley and Pratt City communities as a teacher at both Ensley High School and P.D. Jackson Olin High School.

Alison received her B.A. with a double major in mathematics and English from Denison University. She then received her M.Ed. with a specialization in secondary mathematics education from University of Alabama at Birmingham. In 2004, Alison attained her national teaching certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and attained her re-certification in 2013. In 2010, she attained her Ed.D. from Walden University with a specialization in teacher leadership. In 2014, she attained an M.Ed. in Instructional Leadership from University of Montevallo
